The first program of the 2014-2015 Season celebrated the 90th Anniversary of Royal Oak Musicale. The day exceeded our expectations with over 150 guests/members in attendance. Our goals continue to be two-fold.
The first goal is to promote the appreciation of good music in our community by providing free monthly programs beginning in September and going through May. These programs feature a wide variety of performing artists including auditioned artists from within the membership as well as local professionals. Each concert is followed by an informal tea enabling the audience to meet the performers in person.
Our second goal is to help young high school graduates entering college in pursuit of careers in music. This may be as performers, teachers of music, music therapists, composers, etc. Last June Financial Aid Awards were given to three very deserving young performers.
We have two performing women's choral groups.
The Women's Chorus, directed by Twylia Voshol, accompanied by Min Sook Chung
The Madrigal Singers, directed by Twylia Voshol.
Both groups perform two concerts twice a year.
In addition to our concerts, both groups contribute approximately 1600 hours of their time and talent in music outreach each year.
